Get to know the staff of Wardhouse Equestrian Centre, including their experience and qualifications.

Iain Couttie: Owner

Iain has run Wardhouse for over 20 years, as a riding school, livery yard, and home base for his own sports horses. He previously worked with big names such as Ian Stark. Iain regularly competes in eventing (BE novice) and dressage (BE elementary). He is also a keen cyclist.

Louise McQuilkie: Riding School Manager

Louise has been at Wardhouse for 10 years and in that time she has helped grow the riding school, taught 100s of adults and children to ride, and backed and developed horses and ponies of all types. Louise has BHS Level 5 qualifications. She also has two Cockerpoo's called Rollo and Vali and is studying Economics for fun. She enjoys flatwork and jumping and her favourite school pony is Bobby!

Erica Johnson: Coach and Exercise Rider

Erica has been at Wardhouse for around four years and has been teaching for many more. She's very experienced and particularly enjoys working with our Pony Club-ers, teaching them all kinds of stable management, horse care, and riding every Sunday. Erica's horses are retired so Erica spends most of her time renovating the farm she owns with her husband.

Peanut: Boss Dog

Peanut is everyone's favourite dog and is always supervising the goings on at the yard. She works hard chasing mice (but rarely, if ever, catching them) and taking naps in the sun. Peanut enjoys making sure no staff or helpers eat too much by kindly taking some of their lunch from them every day. She is best friends with the yard cats Beans, Cheese, and Toast, and they can regularly be seen on missions together.
